"Oh no! Not this topic again! In this week's Time Magazine there is an article stating that DV is dying. Alvy Singer, a major film director from Israel is predicting the reemergence of super 8 film. At Rabinowitz Cine Company in Tel Aviv, an inexpensive super 8 sound camera is being manufactured. They are also bringing back super 8 sound film. Market testing will begin next March."
From a post over on Indieclub.com
Anyone have any more info on this new camera?

Where exactly in Indieclub.com did you see this information? On their message board?

Now THIS IS some news! Maybe there is some hope that other people besides us hyper-enthusiasts will get their hands on a REAL movie camera and have some fun. I swear, there has been nothing more fascinating to me than watching my friend's "neighborhood" movies made in the backyard...all made by kids under 16 (with sound film, of course). Maybe the sound quality wasn't worth writing home about, but hey, it was COOL.
Thanx-Chris

Actually, I always found the sound quality to be fine for voice. I really think that re-establishing super 8 sound film could re-vitalize the super 8 production market. And you're right. It was damn fun to shoot.

I tried to find the new Time Magazine issue, but all I found was some Time special on the attack, with nothing else in it.
I hope it's true, because having two companies making S8 cameras would be great.
We should find out if this is for real, and if so, send in a petition with some of our suggestions for the perfect Super 8 camera, like we had on an earlier post.
Let's look into this, OK?

I just typed in "Rabinowitz Cine" in 4 search engines, and nothing turned up info on this company, so if they're doing this, they haven't mentioned it on the web.
Hmmmm... did the guy in Time magazine leave his email address like some crazy jounalists are doing these days?

I couldn't find the article either.
I've e-mailed the guy who posted the info on the other forum, asking him for the page number and issue number of the magazine.
Seems like there are plenty of people here who would manufacture a new camera if they had the money to do so.
Peace,
M
